While nothing big like construction of an all new building for an extension is to be reported from the Disney Village there is still a nice bag of various changes that have been added to the Disney Village recently.
This year's biggest project in the Disney Village so far was the complete redo of the facade for the Disney Store which was transformed from the train station design to a more cartoonish look. The one big element unchanged so far was the giant relief featuring Mickey, Donald and Goofy in front of some rockwork above the entrances to the shop from the glass covered middle section that in the past years was the location of the now dismounted Central Stage. Well, change has arrived here as well in the meantime. While the giant relief wasn't taken down, it got a cartoonish reworking by painting Mickey, Donald and Goofy in full color to make them stand out from the rockwork - we let it up to you to judge whether the result is a success ... it sure is more cartoonish than originally.
The next change is harder to notice if one doesn't look close. Around the flat roof top of the building housing Billy Bob's safety railing was installed. As the railing are massive metal boards the building now looks a bit higher. Since the boards would not blend in with the regular facade they have been set apart by a different paint color and adorned with advertising for Billy Bob's in similar western fonts as already used on the facade, giving it the look of a (themed) bordure.
The final change to be reported today is easier to notice once again. After the Ben & Jerry's ice cream sales on a bike now a new building next to the Marina of teh Disney Village is offering a statoniary location to taste one of the richly flavored ice creams. Guests here are treated to a wide assortment of different flavors - much wider than on the sales bike - as well as drinks, waffles and crepes. In addition to the structure which tries to mix the distinct look of the Disney Village sales stands with the look of the themed huts for the vending machines at the Marina, next to the list of offerings a special poster can be found depicting Disney's Newport BayClub and the Panoramagique ballon in the signature style of Ben & Jerry's - complete with the famous cow onboard of the balloon and in small boats on Lake Disney. Certainly the slaes location is a welcome addition for the hot summer months and is now THE place to get an ice cream for a leisurely stroll around Lake Disney or the Disney Village.
